Wolves Updates 9/15

FREE AGENT FOCUS: The Timberwolves still have both salary-cap
exceptions available — the mid-level and the bi-annual — but already
have a clogged roster. They aren’t expected to use either exception, a
good thing, since their lottery-bound situation isn’t likely to attract
any players serious about winning.

Mike Trudell/Timberwolves site talks to Wolves assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff about the team’s offseason workouts.

Matt Thomas, who has been a sports-talk host at KSTP (1500 AM) since January and previously has called Division I college basketball, is among those who have been contacted by the Timberwolves about their vacant radio play-by-play position…

Another name that has surfaced in the Wolves’ search is Edina native Rick Kamla of NBA TV. WNBA announcers Craig Ackerman of the Houston Comets and Andrew Monaco of San Antonio Silver Stars remain in the mix. Brian Sieman, who called games for the Wolves last season, has taken a job calling games for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Minnesota wasn’t even a playoff team when Kevin Garnett was around, but
now foes who come up against the T-Wolves won’t have to deal with The
Big Ticket either. That makes it more like a night in Memphis, which is
always nice.

We really feel like the Celtics are turning a corner and have a chance.
I’m looking forward to starting fresh with the Celtics. Boston fans
want them to step back into the glory that once was.
