There has been outcry over the proposition of making the Wings and Penguins play back to back games on the weekend. Atrocity! But seriously folks, what’s wrong with having back to back games on the weekend? Most everyone (besides me, doctors, nurses, firemen, fry cooks, cashiers, police officers and etc) has the weekend off. People wll be home to watch the game! And you know what? They will! There is nothing better than watching The Game on a weekend off, and even better if you can do so both Saturday and Sunday.
Furthermore (oh yeah, I dropped the F word), the NHL has the weekend to itself. MLB is in the mid season doldrums and the NBA is between series right now. Unless you want to watch some NASCAR or the French Open, the Cup Finals are probably the best bet. And really, I don’t think there is much crossover from the NASCAR/NHL fanbases.
The other argument is that they shouldn’t be playing back to back games. BS. Do you know who else works on back to back days? EVERYONE. Even you in the regular season! You can do it. I understand if you feel like it’s a disadvantage for the Red Wings, because that means the Penguins get to spend one less day in Detroit, but really, that’s the only point I can think of that is valid.
Well, anyways. Off to work.
