Welterweight Bout: Jon Fitch (24-5-1) vs. Josh Burkman (25-9)
Burkman is a good story and riding a nice wave. Finishing Aaron Simpson is absolutely no joke and he was dead-on in calling out Fitch. This is his shot and he’s the right man for it, but he doesn’t have the horses. Fitch will be the best fighter he’s ever faced since…well, Fitch in 2006. Fitch plays it safe but takes it easily, 30-25. Fitch via UD.
Welterweight Bout: Steve Carl (19-3) vs. Tyson Steele (10-1)
So, using my incredible logic skills, this appears to be a semifinal fight to face Fitch-Burkman for the WSOF Welterweight strap. Carl was a game Bellator fighter in their shark tank of a welterweight divison, but as for Steele…he’s just not there yet, and a win over Gregor Gracie does nothing to convice me. Carl via R1 Submission.
Lightweight Bout: Brian Cobb (20-7) vs. Justin Gaethje (8-0)
This is actually a very well put-together fight. Gaethje is a solid prospect that’s due for a step up and Cobb and been everywhere and done everything. Nice gatekeeper fight. I think he’s ready. Gaethje R3 TKO.
Lightweight Bout: Jacob Volkmann (15-4) vs. Lyle Beerbohm (22-2)
This will be the FOTN and maybe Fight of the Weekend. Heard it right here folks! I think this works out almost the same as the Beerbohm vs. Healy fight. Volkmann via UD.
