Arlington-based MMA promotion Xtreme Knockout Out has been far and away the most active, and successful, local promotion here in North Texas. No slight to any other promoters in either boxing or MMA, but when it comes to building a local brand few have done what XKO has accomplished in such a short amount of time. Be it an impressive number of continuous sponsorship for their events to a regional TV deal with TXA 21 that sees fights from XKOs extensive vault, XKO has positioned itself to be a must-see promotion here in the state of Texas. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that XKO has the luxury of owning their own venue, but the fact remains that it took some hard work to cultivate the fanatical fan base that they enjoy here in the DFW Metroplex.
This Saturday night, XKO will hold XKO 12, their twelfth MMA promotion and as is the norm this card is stacked to the rafters with some of the state’s best talent. But, the oft-overlooked beauty of an XKO event is the block party style atmosphere that takes place at The Gym Combative Sports Arena hours before the first scheduled fight. Ask any fight fan in attendance at an XKO event and they will no doubt extoll the fun and excitement they experienced at the fights.
To put it simply, if you’re an MMA fan and you haven’t been to an XKO card, you should really reevaluate your level of fandom.
