With the explosion in popularity of MMA here in North Texas, you would be hard-pressed to find a more energy infused promotion than Arlington’s Xtreme Knockout. The professional MMA extension of the renown Bussey clan of martial artists, a night at an XKO fight is one that most will surely not soon forget.
It’s hard to place the cause for such an electric atmosphere. Other local MMA heavyweights like SWC and Steele Cage Promotions have captured that valued crowd energy, but not to the consistent basis that Thomas and Mike Bussey have been able to create. Part of the mystique gets whittled away when you consider that the Bussey’s are responsible for the wildly popular professional wrestling outfit PCW. The prerequisite theatrics of professional wrestling seem to be seamlessly engrained into the XKO promotion, and thus, fight fans are treated to an intoxicating amount of sensory overload.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Xtreme Knockout have the luxury of owning their own fight site. But regardless of their business savvy, the true beauty of an XKO promotion are the fights, and this Saturday’s XKO 7 promises to follow in that same mode.

Why You Should Care: Because as I mentioned above, an XKO card contains a level of energy that is as infectious as anything in this world. Because the Bussey’s seem to legitimately care that patrons to their fights have a full interactive experience. XKO 7 will be the biggest event for the upstart promoters to date. From 6-8 PM there will be a pre-fight party taking place at the arena which will feature a number of local vendors and MMA centric clothing companies. Think of it as a mini fan expo complete with a live performance by local rock band Egress. It promises to be a great time.
Fight of the Night: Anthony Macias versus Ox Jones. Macias is a UFC and Pride veteran and Jones is a fighter who knows no fear. The combination of the two is sure to produce fireworks.
