Family, friends, countryman… I implore you to not encourage Yadier Molina.
Recently, Mr. Molina had his hard cast removed and the Cardinals de facto captain immediately pushing all the right buttons with The Nation:
“That’s what I want,” said Molina, among several Cards who participated in a voluntary workout Monday. “That’s my goal, obviously. We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m going to try to do my best to be in the Opening Day lineup.”
Wait, Opening Day?!
Understandably, fans are excited. The toughest SOB on the team is going from cast to MLB catcher in 40+ days?
Of course he is.
Yadi is tough, he won't let a pesky repaired thumb keep him out for very long. #STLCards https://t.co/5uhA3dziIb

While every single person that wears red on game day appreciates Mr. Molina’s aggressive goal, we need to remember that baseball is a long game.

Otherwise, things like this can happen:
You don’t care to see anything similar to that again, right? So applaud Molina. Love Molina. Encourage steady and continued improvement of Molina’s thumb.
But if he asks you about Opening Day, maybe let him know that we’re covered and he can take his time.
