After Years Of Suffering Through Shooting Slumps, Klay Thompson Now Deals With Them Represented By These Emojis: πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜¬πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ€”πŸ˜Ά

Los Angeles Lakers v Boston Celtics

WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA — Klay Thompson is currently shooting just 19.6% from three-point-range and 38.4% overall, but the all-star shooting guard’s slumps with the Golden State Warriors have been well-documented:

Today, Thompson spoke with reporters about his latest valleys, but appeared a lot more easy-going about it than in the past. He has matured to a point where he can now laugh about it.

He can actually do more than chuckle or shrug it off. We can even show them through emojis:

More detail from Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area:

β€œI’m pretty sure it was the worst game I’ve ever played against the Lakers,” Thompson told CSNBayArea.com after shootaround Monday, hours before tipoff against the New Orleans Pelicans.
.
β€œBut I know it’s going to get better starting with tonight.”

From Connor LeTourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle:

But Thompson has a point: If anything, (Kevin) Durant’s arrival has afforded Thompson even more open looks than normal. He shot 42.3 percent from three-point range in the preseason. In games that count, Thompson is making only 28.6 percent of his three-pointers when there is nobody within 6 feet of him.
.
β€œObviously we have different players, but I’m still getting the shots I always got before he was here,” Thompson said. β€œIt’s not on Kevin at all.”
.
Head coach Steve Kerr has suggested that Thompson is β€œpressing” at times, not allowing himself the chance to find much of a rhythm. Thompson believes the explanation is simpler: Shooting ruts plague all players and this is just one of his.
.
β€œI think I’m taking good shots,” Thompson said. β€œJust haven’t fallen yet, and they will. Only takes for me a couple to go in and … right back on track.”

From Anthony Slater of the Bay Area News Group:

β€œI’ve had plenty of them. They just weren’t as relevant last year because we were winning so much. 4-2 seems like a bad start for us because we set the bar so high. It’s just magnified when you lose. Nature of the beast.”
.
On whether it sticks out because the season is only six games old…
.
β€œIt would stick out no matter what because we have so much attention on us. You start doubting yourself, shoot, that’s when you’re in trouble.”
.
On how his shot feels right now…
.
β€œThe ones that feel good are the ones that are online. When it’s off-line, that’s when it doesn’t feel good. When it’s online and it’s long, even short, you know it’s your legs. Last game, I had a ton of misses short. So I just got to get some rest and use my legs more. Make an adjustment.”
