YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Milwaukee Brewers finally pulled the trigger on Monday afternoon and fired Manager Ned Yost. The firing came off of a weekend series in Philadelphia in which the Brewers were swept by the Phillies to lose the Wild Card lead. The Brewers held the lead in the Wild Card lead coming into September but a monumental collapse has cost Yost the chance to turn things around.
Yost was enjoying his best year as a manager but the September swoon and lack of fire in the eyes of fans, media and ultimately the front office led to his dismissal. Yost finishes with a record of 457-502, a winning percentage of only .477 in almost in almost 6 full seasons. Dale Sveum, who has served this season as third base coach, will take over for Yost for the remainder of the season.
Look, this is no doubt a move of desperation but it’s also a move that had to be made. With CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets most likely gone at the end of the season, owner Mark Attanasio couldn’t sit back and just hope things would turn around. He forced the hand of General Manager Doug Melvin and Melvin gave in to finally shut the door on Yost. Attanasio wanted Yost gone at the end of last season but Melvin convinced him to give Yost one more year. Melvin likely sees the writing on the wall for himself as well if the Brewers fail to make the playoffs this season.
I hope this lights a fire under the team and they can step up to reach the playoffs. Either way, it’s a good day to be a Brewers fan and the right move was made by firing Ned Yost.
