Tom Haudricourt reported on JSOnline.com that:
1. Joe Dillon, Gabe Kapler, and Tony Gwynn all made the 25-man roster
2. The rotation is going to be Sheets, Suppan, Bush, Villanueva, and Parra
3. Mike Rivera has beaten out Eric Munson for the backup catcher spot.
Of course, two roster spots will turnover before the end of April, due to the return of Yovani Gallardo off the DL, and Mike Cameron’s return from his suspension. Still, I’m surprised that Kapler made the opening day roster, as well as that Bush earned the #3 spot in the rotation, and that Rivera got the nod over Munson. Glad to see that Parra, the arm with the least experience, will start at the #5 slot…it will be interesting to see if Yost opts to skip Parra’s turn in favor of having his other four starters stay on an every 5th day schedule, when possible.
So, the 25-man has been set. What do you think?
