You’d be SUPER awesome if you would HELP!

Hello DOY readers!

We were chatting with one of our favorite writers/bloggers on Twitter today, one Mr. Ryan Lambert.

When he's not writing awesome posts on Puck Daddy, he's doing his best to give back and help under privileged kids get the academic help they need and DESERVE.

You'd be SUPER awesome if you would HELP!

"826 Boston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, we provide drop-in tutoring, field trips, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.

All of our free programs seek to strengthen each student's power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice."

What are we asking of you? Just a few dollars. Skip a Starbucks run today or buy a beer at a bar pre-game instead of at the Bruins game and give the extra $30 you'd save to help a great cause. Literally any amount helps! Here's Ryan saying it a lot better than we can:

You'd be SUPER awesome if you would HELP!

Hello Bruins fans,

My name is Ryan Lambert and if you don't know who I am, I'm a columnist for Puck Daddy and a few other hockey sites. If you do know who I am, I'm super-sorry about that.

Anyway, I am writing today to let you know of something terrible, of which you as Bostonians should be deeply ashamed. You see, I'm participating in a fundraiser for 826 Boston, which is a non-profit tutoring and writing center in Roxbury to help kids in underserved local schools get all the academic help and encouragement they can. As you might imagine, they often need a lot.

That's not the shameful part. This is: Donations from Boston-based people have been, shall we say, a little lacking. While I've been able to raise nearly $1,500 in donations in a little over a week, I can say with certainty that only $60 of that has come from actual Bruins fans. That's not a scientific number by any means – there's no entry required for "Favorite NHL team" – but nonetheless, I feel like you guys are slacking.

By contrast, and this is the gross part, I know for sure that MAPLE LEAFS FANS have donated at least $325. You guys are getting punked out pretty hard by Toronto here, and that's something that no one associated with the Bruins – from the team to Peter Chiarelli to you guys – should have to go through.

You can click this link to donate to my 826 page (http://www.gifttool.com/athon/MyFundraisingPage?ID=1983&AID=2316&PID=334267), in any amount you want, but like I said, you have a lot of catching up to do. You can also click here (http://826boston.org/) to learn more about 826 Boston and the wonderful things they do for local schoolkids every day.

In summary: Stop letting a bunch of punk-ass Leaf fans embarrass you. Thanks for reading.

So PLEASE donate whatever you can. $1. $5. $50. Doesn't matter. Every little bit helps! And PLEASE help us spread the word if you could!
