About like it is every year, the stats don’t lie:
The NFL released its annual assessment of opening-day rosters and the Colts were, according to averages of the 53-player roster of all 32 teams:
The league’s lightest team at 239.11 pounds. Despite an effort to get heavier along the defensive line in the offseason, they had only eight players at 300 pounds or heavier, tied with Tennessee for the fewest. Dallas has 16.
Tied with Kansas City as the youngest team in the AFC (25.89 years old) and second-youngest in the league. Only Green Bay (25.7) was younger. The Colts had eight players 30 years or older. The Washington Redskins had 17.
The shortest team in the league at 6-1. The Colts had 14 players under 6-foot. Only Pittsburgh and Atlanta, with 15 each, had more.
