Your Afternoon Dump..Where James Young Takes His Shots

1

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

This would be a really good time for James Young to step up and command the wing minutes the Celtics are begging him to take. But in his first three summer league games, it has looked a lot like his rookie season — albeit with Young in an improved body.

James Young Takes His Shots-Steve Bulpett

Ok, I’ll give James Young some time to get going as far as his shot goes. But if he still looks this bad come November, I don’t know what to tell you. However if there is anything that does concern me about Young it’s definitely his penchant for not informing his team’s medical staff about his injuries/health status. This now marks the second time (that I’m aware of) that Young has withheld info pertinent to his health situation from Celts trainers. Sure, this time was perhaps less serious then the hamstring injury, but keeping the lines of communication open with your trainer/docs is extremely important in any professional sport.

“Oh, definitely not,” he said. “My hip was just a little bruised up. I didn’t say anything to the trainers and I tried to just play through it. I’ll be all right.”

Young thinks his shot will be just fine, as well. It seems he’s still getting used to his more muscled frame.

“It definitely is a change,” Young said. “I mean, I feel like I’ve gotten a lot of shots up. I felt like I was getting in a rhythm. But it definitely is a matter of getting used to your body. It’s a process.”

Sure James, it’s definitely a process, but with all the guards Danny Ainge & Brad Stevens have at their disposal, you might want to try & get “the process” in gear. If not, I’d say at this point he’s more than expendable. But let me not get too far ahead of myself. The Celtics start phase two of their NBA Summer League schedule tonight in Las Vegas. Let’s see what Young brings to the table.

With not a heck of a lot going on Celtics-wise this afternoon, I wanted to highlight the work of IG/Twitter account “Players In Green”. It’s a straight to the point account-pics of what certain NBA players would/will look like if/when they don the white & kelly green of the Boston Celtics. Though the David Lee deal has not been officially announced yet, here’s a look at what DLee will look like in green. For more of his creations, follow PInGreen on Twitter and Instagram.

Last but not least…

There was a ton of action at the first night of Vegas Summer League. You had the overhyped debuts of Mudiay, Towns & a few others as well as Jordan Clarkson & Zach LaVine exchanging bucket after bucket. Check out the clips below for highlights:
