Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Wiggins made one of six shots from the floor, missed both his three-point attempts, had one assist and did not take a shot in the final 8 minutes 31 seconds of the game. A stifling zone defense and the commanding presence of Stanford’s towering frontcourt appeared to rattle Kansas, which shot 32.8 percent from the floor.
With Disappointing Game By Wiggins Kansas Falls To Stanford-NY Times
Cue the overreactions. Despite averaging 28 points over his last four games, Andrew Wiggins was stifled by Stanford today. Wiggins scored just 4 points on 1 of 6 shooting and had 4 turnovers during his 34 minutes on the floor. The Duke Blue Devils and Jabari Parker were also bounced out of the Big Dance with their 78-71 loss to Mercer earlier in the week. Parker faired a bit better than Wiggins, putting in 14 points, but half of them were made at the charity stripe as he went just 4 of 14 from the field. So what does all of this have to do with the Celtics you ask? Is it possible that these early exits could impact both Parker and Wiggins’ draft stock? Well let’s certainly hope so.
We’ve already seen future NBA hall of famers practically drop into Boston’s hands on draft day. Who can forget when a guy by the name of Paul Anthony Pierce fell into the Celtics’ lap with the number 10 pick in the 1998 draft. And although he has quite a long way to go before he’s mentioned in the same breath, Jared Sullinger’s “back issues” enabled the C’s to snag him with the 21st pick in 2012. Regardless, Celtics fans on social media this afternoon have made it clear they’re hoping a team or two, or three, could pass on either of these superstars to be.
I’m a big fan of March Madness increasing the chance of Wiggins/Parker falling to the Celtics.

If you’d like to simulate the upcoming NBA Lottery/Draft, head on over to ESPN’s NBA Mock Draft Lottery. But beware..it’s very addicting. If you’re interested, a guy many think the Celtics could take, Aaron Gordon, is in action tonight at 9:40pm EST as Arizona takes on Gonzaga.
