Shaquille O’Neal’s “arthritic, 28,000-point scoring right hip” is feeling better since taking a break from the court last week.
“I’m good,” he said yesterday. “We’ve got a great training staff. I’m getting better every day. Feeling great. I’ll be ready to go. I’m ready to go. I came here for a reason, so let’s get it cracking.”
Herald – Doc Rivers clears his throat
Aside from Tony Allen Avery Bradley's super slow healing ankle, the Celtics appear to be in good shape for next Tuesday.
As for Doc's throat, I expect him to be on the bench for Wednesday night's game vs New Jersey. But Lawrence Frank might be the one shouting from the bench.
The Celtics are holding an open practice tonight for season ticket holders. Anyone plan on attending? We'd love to see some of your pictures.
On Page 2, China might be Von Wafer's backup plan.
Von Wafer, currently playing with the Boston Celtics during the pre-season with a partially guaranteed contract, but could be waived before the start of the regular season. The 25-year-old guard could have agreed to play for the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions if he's finally cut from the Celtics roster, and would join the Chinese team on October 26th.
Wafer is averaging 4.7 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7 games played during the pre-season with the Celtics, one of them as a starter.
The story is translation of a report in Hoops China and that might explain the confusing "could have agreed to play" terminology.
What happened to playing in Europe? Is the money that much better in China? Or is the competition too stiff for some of these NBA castoffs?
