Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. 

His general public may be waiting for more, but president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has been wading through a field of bad possibilities for his assets stack. Better to wait. Love is no less a long shot than any other quality possibility at the moment.

“Danny has been very disciplined,” Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca said. “He could have made a lot of deals by now, but not for the kind of player we want.”

That would be a rising star to pair with Rajon Rondo or, in the event of trading the point guard, another cornerstone player.

Celtics Owner Wyc Grousbeck’s “fireworks” comments have been the butt of jokes from some Celtics fans. The deals made up to this point of the offseason, to acquire Tyler Zeller, Evan Turner & Marcus Thornton are hardly what some had in mind. But make no mistake-it’s not that Ainge & Boston ownership have not been looking. There simply haven’t been deals/players available to Boston that would catapult them into a championship caliber team. The much talked about Kevin Love deal appeared to be a legit possibility at one point, but has since faded away-even more so with the recent talk that the Cleveland Cavaliers could very well be adding him to their “superteam” composed of Lebron, his ex-Heat teammates d*ckriders, Kyrie Irving, Anderson Varejao and #1 pick Andrew Wiggins to name a few.

Basically, Danny Ainge & Celtics ownership are certainly prepared, and patient enough, to let the young talent they currently have on the roster develop. But, and this is a big but, if the right offer presents itself, where they could add an asset or assets that would turn the team into a serious contender, we all know “Trader Dan” will pull that trigger.

“It’s a little different now,” Pagliuca said, comparing this summer to 2007. “Back then we had Paul Pierce but not much talent around Paul. This is a better talent base that we have now. It’s a process. The key is to not go for just a short-term deal.

“As it was 10 or 12 years ago, the goal is to be patient and try to win a championship. That means bringing in and developing young players. All of that changes overnight if Danny is able to do the kind of trade that he’s done in the past.”

As far as the fans go, many are still clamoring for the fireworks that were promised earlier. But Ainge can not and does not let outside influences impact his decisions. Thank goodness.

“I can’t control that,” he said of a restless public. “Typically — and you see it with all of the teams here — Boston fans understand what’s going on. Everyone wants to win, but I can’t let these things impact what we’re trying to do. You can’t force this.”

I personally believe 2014-15 will be another season of watching the youngsters grow (hopefully) and that if any big moves do materialize, i.e. Rajon Rondo, it will happen near the February trade deadline. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I personally would be in favor of the C’s building around Rondo, but I’m just not certain that Boston can attain the assets it needs to win another championship without moving him. But that’s another story for another day..

Jared Sullinger, his brother James, Trey Burke and fellow Buckeye Scoonie Penn were among those that took part in yesterday’s 8th annual Rodgers Neighborhood Basketball “Battle For Peace“. The RNB is an organization based in Columbus, Ohio that aims to show young athletes the importance of non-violence. Their event on Saturday featured a 3-on-3 tourney for the youngsters and the main event- “TeamSully vs TeamBurke”. And according to this Instagram post, Jared’s squad was victorious:
