In most years, unrestricted free agents are a good bet to return to the team that holds their matching rights. But when Bradley and his camp broke off extension talks with the Celtics over the winter despite the fact that the sides weren’t far apart, the guard may also have lost out on his best-case money scenario for next season.

Bradley’s ongoing brittleness considered, the C’s are unlikely to return to the four-year, $24 million extension that was previously offered. The injury issue may also limit what he finds on the market this summer.

Avery Bradley’s Future With Celtics Up In Air-Mark Murphy

If you polled Celtics fans and asked them what their biggest knock on Avery Bradley was, I’m willing to bet the top response would be that he’s injury prone. Hell, Bradley was hurt before Boston even drafted him-injuring his ankle during a pre-draft workout back in 2010. And since then, AB has missed quite a bit of time due to a multitude of maladies including shoulder problems & most recently another ankle issue. But as Murphy notes, Avery had a very strong finish to the 2013-14 season, averaging just under 23 ppg and shooting better than 50% from downtown.

Despite an impressive end to this past season, teams looking for free-agent guards could balk due to Bradley’s injury history, and he could seriously regret leaving Boston’s offer on the table last winter. Avery does have another ace in his deck, which is his fantastic on ball defense and penchant for making big plays on the defensive end. A contender looking for a defensive stopper may be inclined to make Bradley a decent offer, but I doubt for the kind of money that Boston was offering a few months back. Bradley is still just 23 years old and has room for improvement. And to be a top shooting guard in the NBA, you need to have a good long range game. Bradley says that his three-point shot is something he’s been looking to make improvements on.

“That’s something Danny (Ainge) and (coach) Brad (Stevens) have told me to work on,” Bradley said of increasing his range to become a consistent 3-point shooter. “Throughout the year I wasn’t confident shooting the 3-ball, but as the year went on I became more confident thanks to my teammates and putting in the work.”

I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen with AB & the Celtics. Honestly, I don’t think anyone knows what this team is going to do, and won’t until after the NBA Draft Lottery in a couple of weeks. I’ve always liked Bradley-mostly due to his stellar defense and quiet, humble demeanor. However I know that Ainge is going to do whatever he has to in order to bring another banner to Boston. And if that plan does not involve Avery Bradley, so be it.

Page 2:  Clippers win Game 7 and Doc is stoked

Saturday night’s game seven between the Clippers & Warriors did not disappoint. It was a wild contest filled with dunks, four-point plays, Steez, circus shots and Lob City. In the end, the Clippers outlasted the Warriors 126-121, and Doc Rivers showed more emotion than I’ve seen from him in quite some time. After the game, Doc had this to say about his outburst:

“My excitement was not for me at all-it was for everybody. I wanted the fans to get excited..I just wanted them to get excited and exhale for a second..”
