Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Stevens reached out to each player on the roster upon accepting the job and was pleased to receive responses from all of them.

“I heard back from everybody and they were great,” he said. “Jeff (Green) called right back and Jared (Sullinger) got right back to me. … The response for them has really been kind and good, so I’m looking forward to working with them.”

Stevens met Avery Bradley, who was at the Celtics practice facility, in person prior to his introductory press conference. President of Basketball Operations noted Stevens wants to meet more players over the coming weeks to begin getting to know one another. That includes Rajon Rondo, who has been at the center of coachability talks since the hiring.

“I know that they talked and it sounded like their talk went really well,” said Ainge. “They want to get together and see if they can develop a relationship before the season starts.”

Glad to hear the players returned Stevens’ phone call. I’m waiting for the reporter who claims Rajon Rondo took the longest amount of time to get back to Stevens.

Unfortunately, this is the news we’re relegated to pass along until the blockbuster deal with the Nets is finalized and Danny Ainge can finish up the roster.

As for Rondo’s injury timetable:

“I don’t really know a timeline, but when they did the surgery — and I hate to put pressure on the player — but I think his goal and a very realistic goal is to be ready Opening Night,” Ainge said following head coach’s Brad Stevens introductory press conference. “I’m guessing that training camp will be maintenance, maybe not do two-a-days, maybe miss a day here or there, but I think that our objective is he’ll be ready Opening Night. I haven’t heard anything that’s suggested otherwise.”

There is only one option for opening night – Brooklyn at Boston.

The Celtics’ first game in the Orlando Summer League is tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. We reached deep into the corporate budget and sent John to Orlando to cover the games. Look for comprehensive coverage starting tomorrow.

FWIW – the @BOSCoachStevens Twitter account is a fake. I should have know that the real Brad Stevens wouldn’t follow me.
