Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
“Danny [Ainge] likes a bunch of guys in this draft,” Grousbeck told the Globe. “Our pick is going to put us in that range. Danny is going to like the guy we get. In other words, Danny likes six guys in this draft — well, he likes more than six — but we’ll be all right.
“We’ve done this before, and 6 and 17 isn’t a bad way to start rebuilding.”
But hold on a second. Grousbeck said that Ainge, the Celtics president of basketball operations, “will like the guy they get.”
Does that mean the Celtics plan on using that No. 6 pick as opposed to trading it — say, as part of a package . . . perhaps to Minnesota for Kevin Love?
“I’m assuming for now we’ll keep it,” Grousbeck said. “I’m sure the phone will ring a thousand times between now and draft day, and that’s the fun of it.
“I’ve been looking forward to June for a while, and I told Brad Stevens the other day, ‘Coach, June is going to be a defining moment in your career.’ It’s going to be an amazing month, so let’s see what happens.
Don’t you just love Wyc? The man is always brimming with confidence.
A little dose of Wyc always makes me feel better about this team. Like when you reach for the warm milk and cookies before bed. Or when you sneak a whiskey nip into your coffee at the office in order to survive that budget meeting.
Danny Ainge likes 6 guys in this draft. I’m pretty sure Ainge would like 8 guys if the Celtics had the 8th pick.
Every spoken word at this point is posturing as the organization contemplates its next big move.
Speaking of big moves, CSNNE’s Sherrod Blakely likes the Celtics chances to land Kevin Love:
As much as the Celtics will publicly downplay how the 2007 moves that brought home an NBA title in 2008 was like catching lightning in a bottle, guess what?
The Celtics are poised to catch lightning again, and they have a bigger — much bigger — bottle to capture it in this time.
…
By no means does this mean that the C’s are a lock to get a deal done. But they have a chance; a better chance now than they had of landing Garnett, truthfully.
Watch out for the Warriors in the Love sweepstakes. They look ready to shake up their roster. There’s talk of moving David Lee to Orlando for Arron Afflalo which would be a precursor to including Klay Thompson in a deal for Love.
And finally, Vitor Faverani shares a photo of his baby:
