Your Morning Dump… Where Doc loves the City of Champions

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

"It's a great time to be a Boston fan in sports.  I don't know anything about hockey… I went to a game… I was very supportive obviously but it was fun to watch. And its just really neat to know that you have four coaches in town that have been champions.  But more importantly its great for our city.  It's a city of champions right now and I think each coach and each team want to keep it going."

CSNNE: City of Champions

I'll never get sick of standing on Tremont street with a million other people, screaming myself hoarse, taking horribly shaky video of a championship trophy gliding by on a duck boat.  I know not all of our readers is a fan of all our Boston sports teams, but I am… and this is pretty damn cool.

I especially love how the teams support each other.  Bruins coach Claude Julien made sure to thank the coaches of all the other teams at the parade for their support during the Cup run.  It just goes to show that being involved in a pro sports team in Boston is special.  I'm not saying that other cities don't have coaches who call each other.  I'm just saying that in Boston, its clear that the coaches, players and owners of all the franchises are keenly aware of what sports mean to the city.  They know that most of us in the city are rabid about all of our teams.  Once you put a "Boston" across your chest (or New England, as the case may be) you'll have the whole city going crazy.

Maybe now that the Celtics aren't the city's most recent champion, they'll feel a little more pressure to keep up.  And if the Red Sox manage to win the World Series, then there will have been two teams holding parties since the C's last did it.

The way things are going around here, you'd better keep up with the Joneses, or you'll get swept away with all their confetti.
