Turner leads the NBA in most games off the bench with 10-plus points, five-plus rebounds, and five-plus assists – he’s got 10 of them. He also leads the NBA in assists coming off the bench with 277.

Brad Stevens trusts Turner late in games maybe more than anybody, which is why despite the fact he doesn’t start, he’s fourth in the NBA in fourth-quarter minutes with 591.

He’s also third in the NBA in fourth-quarter assists with 107, behind NBA assists leader Rajon Rondo and starting point guard John Wall.

Evan Turner has definitely come around this year. From being a frequent–and almost as frequently deserving–target of John’s rants for an assortment of boneheaded plays (note: he still makes them, just not as often), Turner has become a thoroughly indispensable part of Boston’s second unit, going from an abysmal -5.8 rating in December to a +4.9 rating in February.

Turner also remains the best quote in the league–even when he subsequently thinks better of what he’s said:

Replying to Sullinger’s Sixth Man suggestion, Turner tweeted (in a post that has since been deleted), “I hear all the 6th man talk but don’t get it twisted, I’ll always be #1 in your girl’s heart,” and it included a picture from his high school days with a Throwback Thursday hashtag.

Page 2: Where now Crowder’s hurt too

“I was on a fast break and I came down in an awkward way,” said Crowder, who walked gingerly under his own power while departing the locker room. “I got up and I didn’t feel good. Come to find out I just sprained it.”

Crowder dubbed it a high ankle sprain.

“Jae sprained his ankle, twisted it in,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. “He doesn’t have much swelling now, so it looks good. They’re going to do an MRI on it and figure out if there’s anything above what they think right now. But I got mostly positive vibes as I was talking to him and then also to our doctors and trainers that it won’t be a long-term thing. But we’ll see.”

The C’s are going to have their depth tested if Crowder’s out for more than a game or two. Fortunately, the Celtics are off until Tuesday.

Page 3: James Young is trying to help Flint

Young sent shipments of water to relatives on both sides of his family, who have lived in Flint for generations. He doesn’t know precisely how many gallons of water he’s signed and paid for. He just wants to make sure his family remains safe.

So far, so good.

“I’ve talked to most of my family. My mom’s side is all fine, and I’m starting to talk to my dad’s people,” Young said yesterday after practice. “But other than that, nobody has really been tested.”
