Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
The Celtics may have been eliminated early from the playoffs, but Boston fans still have plenty of rooting interest in Round 2 and beyond.
Yesterday, one of our Twitter friends helpfully pointed out the significant number of former Celtics who are still contributing for the eight teams remaining in the postseason:
Former #Celtics still in playoffs: Paul Pierce, Jeff Green, Tony Allen, Courtney Lee, Big Baby Davis, Jason Terry, Kendrick Perkins
— Titleixbaby (@Titleixbaby) May 6, 2015
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsWe can also include lesser lights Leandro Barbosa, Lester Hudson, Dahntay Jones, Kris Humphries and Etwaun Moore. And @Titleixbaby added that Austin Rivers could be listed too, since the Celtics “owned his rights for a nanosecond before reuniting him with his dad.”
Among coaches, there are head guys Doc Rivers (Clippers), Kevin McHale (Rockets) and Tom Thibideau (Bulls), and assistants Tyronn Lue in Cleveland and Sam Cassell and Lawrence Frank with the Clippers.
Although that’s a lot of talent helping other teams, we at least know that – for the most part – those guys helped the Cs while they were here, the partings were on good terms, and they were traded away for some valuable assets.
In Pierce’s case, we want to believe he’s just on loan to the Wizards. Contrast that with former Knicks players still in the playoffs. Feel free to giggle as you read.
On Page 2, it’s Throwback Thursday.
During Rockets-Clippers Game 2, TNT took a look back at Kevin and Doc when they faced off during their playing days. https://platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js
And Finally…
At Red’s Army, we fortunately don’t have to deal with the BS that came down yesterday from the NFL. But we have your back, Patriots fans.
