Your Morning Dump… Where it’s all about the back court

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Avery Bradley loves a challenge…

“I love the challenge,” Bradley said on Friday, making an appearance at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “I love going up against the best players. I don’t care who it is. I don’t care about getting embarrassed. I don’t care. Kyrie Irving, none of those guys scare me. I know some players in the NBA probably get butterflies before the game, but not me. I’m licking my lips. I come excited. They need to prepare for me at the end of the day. That’s how I think.”

Bradley recalled an instance in one of his first games, facing Jason Kidd. His teammates, including Kevin Garnett, warned Bradley not to play his trademark full-court defense, saying that Kidd might embarrass him. Bradley, however, didn’t listen.

“I picked him up full court twice and ripped him twice in a row,” Bradley said. “Their coach called timeout, and he started cussing me out like, ‘You don’t ever pick me up like that, young boy.’ I’m like ‘Man, what did I do?'”

Here at Red’s Army, we seldom pass up a chance to take a dig at Jason Kidd. Today’s comes from an article in MassLive, wherein Bradley talks about how he loves to guard people, and how Jason Kidd thought he somehow earned the right to never be guarded in the back court. Or something.

The rest of the article is a nice insight into Bradley’s resilience; he’s not going to give up if a good player beats him every now and then.

…and KG loves Avery Bradley…

“This year, I was telling my teammates when we were playing in Minnesota, I was like, ‘I don’t think KG’s gonna give me a jersey,'” Bradley said. “My teammates were like, ‘Man, what? He doesn’t talk to nobody but you. He’s gonna give you a jersey.’ I asked one of the ball boys and he was like, ‘He just turned down Jeff Green. He’s not giving one to anybody.’ So I asked, and KG wrote me a letter like, ‘I love you. This jersey is for you, keep working hard.’ He wrote me a letter, and now I have his jersey up at my house.”

Ouch, Jeff Green.

Tom Westerholm also posted another article on Avery Bradley, this one focused more on being a rookie playing with future hall-of-famers Allen, Pierce, Garnett and O’Neal; and developing a killer instinct on the court.

…but Isaiah Thomas doesn’t love his 2K rating.

This is not the first time Isaiah’s kvetched about his NBA 2K rating:

Frankly, I think he has a point. Thomas’s perception lags his abilities. As long as he’s short, he’s going to be perceived as a gimmick player by people that don’t pay close attention to things.

Also, did you know Jaylen Brown’s dad is 7′ tall? And a heavyweight boxer?

Marselles Brown, who is 7-feet tall and boasts an 86-inch reach, holds a record of 31-18 in his career with 23 knockouts.

Marselles, who recently came out of retirement to continue his boxing career, told boxing247.com that motivating his sons — Jaylen and Quenton — was the main reason why he decided to get back in the ring.

“My main motivation for coming out of retirement was to show my kids that I never gave up on my dreams,” Brown said. “So I didn’t want them to give up on theirs. I am extremely proud of both my sons. I am especially proud of Jaylen. He is an extraordinary athlete and very smart.”

86 inch reach? Holy crap. That is all.

Finally, what the heck is this?
