Your Morning Dump… Where Jaylen Brown won’t need a bus pass to Maine…we hope

Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Rams

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

It means that the D-League will be an option to consider as the season progresses, but don’t be surprised if Brown doesn’t spend a single minute with the Red Claws.

Seeing a highly regarded prospect come into the NBA and play some in the D-League isn’t anything unusual these days.

But when it comes to top-three picks, life in the D-League doesn’t usually make up part of their rookie experience.

In the past 10 drafts prior to last June’s picks, only two players (Anthony Bennett and Hasheem Thabeet) were top 3 picks that wound playing in the D-League.

And only Thabeet, the No. 2 overall pick in 2009, saw action in the D-League during his rookie season.

CSNNE – Celtics Question Of The Day: Will Jaylen Brown Spend Time In The D-League?

If this was a blog about the Patriots or the Red Sox, we’d have more news today than you could handle. But since almost every media person covering the Celtics apparently spent yesterday watching football and baseball, and since Brad Stevens doesn’t blow the whistle to start training camp for another week, there’s little Cs news this morning.

One topic that’s always in play, however, is speculation about just how good Jaylen Brown will be. At a minimum, let’s hope he can avoid playing in the Portland Exposition Building this season. It’s scary even to think that his name would be linked with those draft flops, Bennett and Thabeet.

We should really hope that Brown will pick up some of the playing time made available by Evan Turner’s departure, and quickly prove himself capable of contributing on the NBA level. Because if the No. 3 pick can’t get on the court in Boston, and instead has to wear the Maine uniform to get minutes, we can be officially worried.
