Your Morning Dump… Where Jermaine is playing ball again

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Jermaine O'Neal spent about 20 minutes on the Boston Celtics' practice court on Monday.

And the results were, uh, just what he expected.

"I was as rusty as I thought I would be," O'Neal told CSNNE.com.

Considering he hasn't played in a game since Nov. 8, being off his game was a given.

But just being able to run up the floor, and feel little to no pain afterwards, was yet another indication that he is moving past the left knee injury that has sidelined him for the last 12 games.

"Hopefully in the next week-in-a-half to two weeks, I'll be playing no problem," he said.

CSNNE – Jermaine O'Neal eyes return before Christmas

Jermaine has been out a month now? Doesn't seem that long. A seven game winning streak makes you forget about mising players.

With Jermaine on schedule to return in a few weeks, and Delonte West's injury not as bad as originally feared, the Celtics could get two major pieces back before the All-Star break. And don't forget about Perk…

As good as the Cs look now, Paul Pierce says this isn't their best:

“We’re playing good,’’ said Paul Pierce. “But we feel like we’re going to be playing our best basketball probably later in the year because of the injuries.’’

On Page 2, Shaq's holiday beat-box.

The entire Boston Celtics [team stats] team spread holiday cheer to Children’s Hospital Boston and Boston Medical Center. Shaquille O’Neal, Ray Allen and Delonte West created winter crafts, sang holiday carols – No. 36 beat-boxed ‘Frosty the Snowman’ — at Children’s. Meanwhile, captain Paul Pierce [stats], Kevin Garnett, Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis, Marquis Daniels and the rest of the roster partied with Santa and the kids from the Boston Medical Center’s pediatric hematology program at the Top of the Hub restaurant.

It's slim pickings on basketball related news this morning, so I threw in this nugget from Children's Hospital. These guys never get enough credit for this kinda stuff anyways.
