Wow… who knew an innocent blog post from May would draw such national media attention?
For those who don’t know, Keith Olbermann hosts a late night show on ESPN 2. He got wind of Gerald Henderson’s personal message to John and Red’s Army regarding John’s claim that Larry Bird’s steal is the greatest play in Celtics history.
Olbermann mocked Henderson (and John) and labeled him the Worst Person in the Sports World for the day. Olbermann insists John Havlicek’s steal is the greatest play.
I’ve always ranked Bird’s steal #1. The Celtics were trailing when Bird made the steal and the assist. Hondo’s play – as great as it was – received a big boost from Johnny Most’s legendary call. After revisiting the Henderson play, I have to give it new consideration.
Maybe it’s time for new poll.
