Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as
satisfying a good morning dump.
“If a guy was doing the Riverdance like that, coach would come over and say, ‘Who’s got the fewest amount of fouls of my big fellas?’ If you raised your hand, he would say ‘We will let him drive and then we will throw him to the ground.’
“When he is laying there we would say, ‘Do you feel like dancing now?’
“And that pretty much solved the dancing problem.“
Kevin McHale on LeBron James dancing – Via LOY’s Place
Best quote ever. EVER.
It’s very simple. You wanna dance, LeBron? Fine… dance. But just know that the next time you check in, you’ll be on your ass.
It’s an attitude that just doesn’t exist as much anymore. It’s a shame, too, because now it puts too much in the hands of the referees.
Yeah, I know the referees are SUPPOSED to keep control of the game. But sometimes its better for the players to police themselves a little. It’s kinda like a hockey fight… which I’m all for too. Sometimes, the players have to let other players know that their crap won’t be tolerated.
I think the C’s have some of that still. I think between Perk, Sheed and KG… we’ve got he guys to lay someone out if its needed. Maybe I’m showing my age or how “old school” I am… but sometimes, people need to get laid out.
Coming up, Page 2… where Rajon Rondo might be more confident than ever.
“I’m pretty confident right now, offensively and defensively,’’ he
said. “The floor seems so spaced. I’ve got the greatest players in the
world playing with me. The floor is so wide open and with as great
players as I’m playing with, when they don’t help off of those guys I
get to drive and get layups. And if they do, I pick them apart, getting
the ball to my teammates.’’
Globe: On guard – Rondo slicing through foes
And that’s why Rondo is the guy who makes this team go.
If a defense is playing tight on KG, Ray and Paul… then Rondo will just blow by his man and get to the rim. If they cheat over to try to stop Rondo, he’ll just destroy the defense by finding the open man. And Rondo can find the open man, no matter where he is on the floor.
Seriously, I’m starting to think Rondo is some kind of savant. He uses angles that only exist in alternate universes. I think he could stump MIT scientists with some of the passes he makes.
Rondo might be playing better than ever right now. I know the Chicago series is his barometer now… but he’s doing what he’s doing now with more options on the floor. He’s got KG back and a very much improved Kendrick Perkins to keep happy. He’s got Rasheed Wallace at times. Yet, he’s controlling all aspects of the game right now… which is very impressive..
