Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Earlier this summer, Kevin Garnett became the richest player in NBA history.

Of course, we’re talking pure on-court earnings here. If we expand the conversation to outside income we’d have to factor in things like MJ’s Nike money and Rashad McCants’ acting career and at the point KG’s a little out of his league.

But in terms of total NBA salary, no one’s made more than Garnett, who’s now in the books for a cool $328,562,398.

CSNNE:  Celtics Basketball:  Who made more?

I’ll have to admit… I completely missed this link on Pro Basketball Talk when it came out last week.   Let’s break it down .

  • Let’s say you start working right out of college at 22 and you work until you’re 65.  To make what KG made over those 43 years, you’d have to make $7,640,986 per year.
  • If KG was a country, his career earnings would rank him 30th by Gross Domestic Product… higher than Greece, Demark, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates… and 175 other countries.  Ok, actually I’m a moron. Thanks to Randy B for reminding me about the wonder of decimal places.  KG is significantly further down the GDP list, but he is bigger than:   Micronesia, Federated States of    $238.10 million, (2008).  Cook Islands    $183.2 million (2005 est.),  Anguilla    $175.4 million (2009 est.), Kiribati    $167 million (2011 est.), Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas)    $164.5 million (2007 est.), Palau    $164 million (2008), Marshall Islands    $161.7 million (2008 est.).  So I was a bit off earlier… but KG is still bigger than a small island nation.
  • KG has made almost twice what Paul Pierce has made ($169,486,218)… and Pierce is 10th all time on the list.

Want to have fun with the full list?  Go here and see some of the ridiculous names.

Spoiler alert:  Michael Jordan is 87th on the list.  Hit that CSNNE link for similar fun from a strictly Celtics perspective.
