Your Morning Dump… Where Mark Jackson’s leaving your TV

Breen jvg jackson Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump

Mark Jackson has agreed to a three-year, $6 million contract to coach the Golden State Warriors.

Jackson, who has no coaching experience, is one more signature hire of new owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber. After new executives Jerry West and Bob Myers took over in the Warriors front office, Jackson’s candidacy ascended from a large group of potential head coaches.

Yahoo: Warriors hire Jackson as new coach

I'd love to spin this is as "Lawrence Frank's options are dwindling" but I can't, really.  There have been a few indications that he'll be a top candidate for the Toronto job because they're going to be looking for a more defensive-minded coach.  And honestly, the Raptors would be pretty smart to steal a guy from within their division.  So while I like Lawrence Frank and the job he's done around here… I still think he's gone.

Meanwhile, Mark Jackson's hiring is great news.  First of all, he's not going to be on your TV anymore after this season!!  For that we owe Golden St. a debt of gratitude.  Secondly, the hiring included stealing Mike Malone, someone the Lakers coveted.  So they took a key guy away from the Lakers' new staff… which is doubly awesome.

You know, for those last two things alone, I think I'm going to go out and buy myself a throwback Golen State Chris Mullin jersey.

Quick note from Waltham:  The C's worked out a bunch of guys yesterday including: Terrence Jennings of Louisville, Vernon Macklin of Florida, Nikola Vucevic from USC and Charles Okwandu from UConn.

"Because of where we are in the draft, it's not easy getting guys in for workouts, because players can only do so many workouts," Ainge told CSNNE.com. "But between the guys we have in, the guys we've seen during the year and during group workouts, we'll see more than a 100 players so we'll have all the bases covered."
