Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.
“At this point it’s all in my pain threshold,” Pierce, who yesterday
jumped rope and rode an exercise bicycle for the first time since the
issues arose, said of not worrying about further damage to the knee.
“No ligament damage, no tear. The swelling is going down every day. I
measure it every day, ice it, keep my leg strong. . . . Right now I
can’t bend it all the way back when I want to, but when I can I’ll
probably be able to play.“Of course you want to play, but you don’t want to be dumb. You have
to pay attention to the longevity of it. I want to get out there when
I’m feeling better and healthy.”
Paul says he got a cut on his toe in the locker room and that's where he thinks the infection might have originated… so he doesn't even seem to know. Regardless… after the initial shock of hearing he had a second procedure wore off, you can tell Pierce is really staying positive about all of this. The infection is clearing, there's no damage in the knee, and the swelling is going down. We can stand down now… Pierce should be back soon enough. He might even play in Miami or Atlanta.
As for that Celtics locker room… they need to disinfect that place. They had a problem with staph infections a few years ago. We don't need to see that start flaring up again.
Coming up, Page 2… where Rondo was overruled

"He wanted to play, but I just asked [trainer] Eddie [Lacerte] on that
and, when Eddie comes to you and says, 'Rondo's not playing,' then it's
easy — there's no debate or anything," said Rivers. "Eddie told me
[Friday] night he didn't think Rondo should play and then this morning
he said, 'I know Rondo shouldn't play.' And that's all I needed to
hear."
ESPN Boston: Rondo targets Wednesday return
Good move. Sit him a game and really give him a week off. Everything worked out. I like how all our guys want to fight through injuries. It's better than someone going to the training staff every time he gets a hang nail.
