Gotta love Perk's attitude, but there is strength in numbers.
Doc Rivers must be giddy at the options in the front court. The two guys most effective at guarding Dwight Howard one-on-one, both play for the Celtics. That's 12 fouls. When playing a team soft in the middle (I'm talking about you Miami), Doc can sacrifice some defense and utilize Jermaine O'Neal's offensive skills.
"I don't even know, I gotta find out what my role is," said Davis. "With Rasheed [Wallace] last year, I had to become a center. Now? I don't know. Do I become a [power forward]? Do I go back to playing the 4? We'll see.
"It's difficult because, as a player, you kind of don't understand where [the organization is] going or what they are doing. No matter what I do — I can play great — it's still not enough. I'm just here to help the team wherever possible, any way I can. Whenever I find my role, I'll do it to the max, the only way I can."
I'm excited about seeing Glen Davis at the 4. It allows for more 15-foot jumpers (a strength of his game), and he'll be a more effective offensive rebounder playing alongside a true center.
On Page 2, Delonte West answers the question on everyone's mind.
But then a reporter from a local radio station asked West the question that basketball fans, entertainment buffs, gossip columnists, and the entire Northeast Ohio region had been wondering about since the Cavaliers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs last May.
Did West have an intimate relationship with Gloria James, the mother of two-time Most Valuable Player and former teammate LeBron James?
Before a frantic team official could intervene, undoubtedly fearing West might react with four-letter words, or perhaps clam up altogether, as he did last season, West took a deep breath, stared the reporter in the eye, and addressed whether the rumors were true.
“Not at all,’’ he said. “I come from an era where you don’t say nothing bad about someone’s parent, so not at all.’’
Globe – Celtics hope West going in a new direction
Case closed. Can we finally stop perpetuating the most absurd rumor in the history of professional sports?
For the record, a reporter didn't ask the question. It was a "personality" from 98.5's Toucher and Rich show.
