Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Is LeBron a better all-around player? Yes. But Paul Pierce isn't quitting on you in the fourth quarter. And Pierce has twice out-dueled LeBron, once on his way to an NBA championship. You can call me crazy if you want, but I'll take the winner every time. And its not like his numbers don't warrant it. He's perhaps the most underrated star of this era.
Crossover Chronicles: Team of the Millennium
Two of the five teams had Paul Pierce starting at small forward. A third team started Kevin Durant. Of course, LeBron was on all five teams somehow, but it shows how he has fallen a bit thanks to his recent failurs (personally and professionally). Pierce was actually selected as a bench player on two other teams as well.
I stand by the statement of him being perhaps the most underrated star of this era. I've made the argument before so I won't belabor the point, but Pierce was stuck in some horrible situations here in Boston. He was never in a position to win an MVP award because of that, and he was rarely in a position to win.
I feel like Pierce is an "…oh yeah… I forgot about him" guy when people talk about the greats of this era. It's nice to see him get some recognition for his accomplishments.
