Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Doc, now the head honcho with the L.A. Clippers, was asked about Pierce in regard to the Truth’s Sunday return to Boston as a member of the Washington Wizards, he simply said what all Celtics’ fans already know in their hearts.
“He’s a Celtic playing for other teams,” Rivers told The Washington Post. “That’s exactly the way I look at Paul. I’ll never look at him as a Wizard. That’s just not going to happen. He’s just a Celtic playing for the Wizards and we all know that.”
Well put. And while he might not say so out loud, it’s a safe bet that Pierce himself would agree 100 percent.

Leave it to Doc to sum up how fans feel about Pierce. It’s been a year and a half and this is Pierce’s second team since being traded, but everyone knows Paul will always be a Celtic and even he doesn’t even really try to hide it.
Now from a basketball standpoint, Pierce probably won’t ever play for the C’s again (although he could sign a 10-day contract to finish his career here) — but he’s already indicated how he hopes to return to the Celtics on way or another. We’ve seen Danny look to former players recently to fill rolls within the organization with Walter McCarty and Leon Powe. If he were to do the same for Pierce, we could see a major asset in the near future. For a team that struggles to convince big time free agents to sign here long-term, Paul could deliver an angle Ainge and Wyc haven’t been able to offer before — a hall of fame player who spent a long time here and loved it. And he won a ring. Imagine a 40 year-old Paul Pierce talking to a polished Jabari Parker about how Boston would be the perfect fit.

And Young and Powell are back with the C’s
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have recalled rookies Dwight Powell and James Young from the Maine Red Claws.
In the Red Claws 122-114 win over Sioux Falls on Saturday, Dwight Powell recorded a team-high 25 points on 10-19 (.526) shooting from the field, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes. Powell is averaging 22.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in 35.0 minutes per game in three contests with the Red Claws this season.

If you want to see some James Young/Dwight Powell action, the Red Claws stream their games live through YouTube. Both are back with the Celtics today, but it’s doubtful either will get any minutes, especially since the Red Claws game was last night and today’s game is an early start.
Powell’s game is pretty interesting, he’s definitely a bit of a tweener, but he seems to know how to make the right/unselfish play, which is even more impressive in the D-League when guys are fighting for their careers.
