Your Morning Dump… Where Rondo becomes an asst coach

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Three big-name NBA guards may be going back to school rather than going to Europe if the NBA lockout drags on into the fall.

Kentucky coach John Calipari tweeted this on Thursday night:

John Wall (@jimmywa11), Rajon Rondo (@rajonrondo) & Eric Bledsoe (@ebled24) all plan to enroll in the fall if the lockout continues. Kaboom!”

All three played ball at Kentucky. Good for them going back to school… but if you’re asking why are they really going back to school — other than to relive the joy of Sociology 101 — we have a guess (suggested by Matt Jones at Kentuckysportsradio.com). All three can be “student assistant coaches” with the Kentucky squad, meaning they could practice with the team. Calipari has already said than any former Kentucky player could come back and use the facilities.

Pro Basketball Talk – Rondo, Wall may be assistant coaches

So it's just a theory by a Kentucky radio blogger, but it sure as hell makes for a good headline during the lockout.

Even if Rondo goes back to school and interacts with the UK hoops team, I can't imagine he'll be sitting on the sidelines with a clipboard.
