Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
I was pretty comfortable with Marc Spears’ report over the weekend that Rondo was aiming at returning to the C’s lineup on the 17th. Despite Rondo later denying the report, he’s been known to troll the media from time to time. Well now it looks like Friday will indeed be the night that #9 suits up, unless of course he’s trolling us all again. Here’s his cryptic tweet from Monday night:
29,233,380 secs
— Rajon Rondo (@RajonRondo) January 14, 2014
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
The tweet, Rondo’s first since Christmas, came last night at around 11:40pm. It immediately set Twitter abuzz with folks trying to figure out just exactly what it meant. Chris Forsberg over at ESPN Boston had the math down pretty well:
Rondo’s tweet referencing 29,233,380 seconds equates to a little more than 338 days, which would be exactly the duration between his ACL surgery on Feb. 13, 2013 and a potential return on Jan. 17, 2014. Heck, Rondo appears to have even calculated the exact differential in time between his surgery and tipoff on Friday. (The surgery would have been 11:07 a.m., figuring in Friday’s 7:30 p.m. start.)
Should be an electric night at TD Garden on Friday with the Lakers in town. Despite the fact that both teams are struggling, and Kobe Bryant is out, Celtics vs Lakers will always be a game that fans of both teams circle on their calendars. Here are some Rondo highlights to hold you over..
