Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as
satisfying a good morning dump.
“Rondo and I, it was just a flow,” Garnett added. “It starts with
our point guard, and he controlled the flow from the beginning to the
end. Just flowing with plays that just took eye contact, and he took
the pace of the game and went.”
Garnett believes that Rondo is conquering perhaps his greatest
challenge – the balance between knowing when to pass and when to look
for his own shot.
“As a teammate watching I think he’s got better at consolidating,
and being aggressive, knowing when to be aggressive,” Garnett said.
“When Paul and Ray get going and we have a post presence, that frees
him up to be an individual.
“He does a really good job of balancing that out. They say the
quarterback has a pretty difficult job, but I say it’s the point guard,
especially when you have (the teammates) he has on this team.”
Herald: Kevin Garnett has a point
Just make a mental note: Last night was the first night we’ve REALLY seen Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett clicking. Rondo was not only finding him, Garnett was finishing.
Maybe… just maybe… the Celtics aren’t old and slow like some people have been saying. It’s possible that KG is, indeed, treating the first few months of this season as a pseudo pre-season to get him self back into shape for the IMPORTANT part of the schedule.
Up next, Page 2, where Kevin Durant thinks the Celtics are fake
“We let them take us totally out of what we try to do,” said Oklahoma City’s Nick Collison.
“Some of that was their intensity defensively. But it seemed like we
couldn’t get into any of our stuff on the offensive end because they
took us out.”
Durant lost his cool two minutes after his run-in with Garnett and was
whistled for his first career technical foul after arguing a foul call.
Durant, however, called Boston’s trash-talking tactics “fake toughness”
and said the antics didn’t throw off the Thunder.
“I shouldn’t have got fired up that much. That’s not me…I shouldn’t have pouted like that and got upset,” Durant said.
That’s going to be a nice little learning experience for Durant. You can call it fake toughness, bullying, or whatever else you want… but it got you out of your game.
The game of basketball is as much mental as it is physical. If the Celtics can take you out of your mental game… then you’re going to have serious problems.
