Your Morning Dump..Where Rondo wants to win “now”

rr

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

“At the end of the day, I want to win. I want to win now. And I’m sure Danny will have the guys in here that we’ll be able to compete for a title. I don’t just want to make the playoffs or get to the first or second round. When I compete, or when I make it to the playoffs, I expect to win every time.”

And that folks, is what you want to hear from your captain. It also really makes you realize just how great it was for an up and coming young star like Rondo to have proven winners like KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Shaq, Sheed etc. around. Rondo has always been an ultra competitive kid, but you best believe that spending quality time with future hall of famers for the last few seasons certainly rubbed off on the now 28 year old point guard. But those days are over, and now he is the vet who younger players will look to for both leadership and inspiration. As far as getting some help, Rajon says he has total faith that Danny Ainge will bring some in this off season.

“I trust a lot in Danny,” said Rondo. “He’s turned this thing around before. I have faith in him. I believe in Danny. I think we do need another big-time player. But that’s all his job. He’s working on that now and I completely have faith in him.”

As the draft approaches, we all know that the Rondo rumors will continue to pop-up here and there. They do call him “Trader Dan” for a reason, but as Rondo told the media yesterday, he now has roots in Massachusetts & Boston. He wants to stay here, and he wants to stay a Boston Celtic. This is his team now, and just as Paul Pierce had his years as the captain and “The Truth”, Rondo will now be the face of the franchise. And he’s ok with it-welcomes it actually. He is indeed happy to be a Bostonian and a  Celtic. As of “now” anyway…

“Yes. I don’t like change, really,” said Rondo. “I’m pretty comfortable. I have a beautiful home here. I love it here. I have a great neighbor, the best neighbor in the world. I don’t want to leave. It’s just part of the process that I’ll talk about once the season is over. As of now, I’m a Celtic … This is home to me, as of now.
