Your Morning Dump… Where Scal is a Bull

Scal noah
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

After five seasons with the Boston Celtics, forward Brian Scalabrine(notes) has agreed to a non-guaranteed contract with the Chicago Bulls, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau wanted Scalabrine as part of his first season in Chicago and pushed hard for him with general manager Gar Forman and vice president John Paxson, sources said.

Yahoo: Bulls invite Scalabrine to training camp

We’ve already broken down why Scal fits well with Chicago.  So this is just a place for us to just say goodbye to Scal.

Thanks for the memories, Veal.  There may not be many… and some may not be good… but you definitely made an impression.

This is my favorite Scal moment… when he ambushed the media after the Celtics won the title in ’08.

And then there’s this:  The Michael Jackson dance on the sidelines

What? You want more Dancing Scal?  Ok.

Fun times.  I’m lucky enough to have met Scal and he’s a really good guy.  Good luck, buddy.

On page 2, Pierce gets his HS Jersey retired, talks up Shaq

“This is a great day for me,” Pierce said. “It’s a great honor. There’s only a few people that have had their jersey retired at the high school.”

The acquisition of O’Neal was one of several notable offseason moves made by the Celtics, who topped the Lakers two years ago before losing the final two games of last season’s Finals. O’Neal, who won three championships alongside Bryant, long ago gave Pierce his nickname — “The Truth.”

“I’m excited,” Pierce said of playing with O’Neal. “He’s one of my all-time favorite players, and now I have a chance to play with one of the greatest players to ever play the game.”

ESPN Boston: Paul Pierce has HS jersey retired

First, thanks to KWAPT for the video.  He’s also got a great picture of The Truth.

Paul gave props to Wyc Grousbeck for going out to get Shaq after hearing Kobe Bryant talk about having one more ring than him.  Paul is the first of the Big 3 to say anything about the Shaq signing… and what did you expect him to say?  I’m sure they’re all excited.  It’s almost like the Celtics are “The Expendables”  It’s like every old action hero getting together in one place for one big run.
