Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
On the other end of the experience spectrum, the Celtics will have an additional month to state their intentions with three other players (Shavlik Randolph, Terrence Williams and D.J. White) before financial promises start kicking in. A fourth in-season acquisition, Jordan Crawford, has a little more than $2.1 million guaranteed, but his place in the rotation is certainly no certainty.
Randolph and Williams had their moments, while White played well but didn’t get much of a look.
Much will depend on what kinds of changes are available to the club this summer and what needs those changes fill, but it seems fair to assume we haven’t seen the last of one or more.
“Shav helped us a lot,” said Ainge. “I think Shav is a good player. He’s a guy that will probably have the best chance of being with us in the future, just because he rebounds, and that was one of our weaknesses.
“I think Shav would have played a bigger role in the playoffs had we gone further.”
Randolph averaged about 4 points and 4 rebounds in 16 games this season. The high points were a 16 pts, 7 reb outing vs CLE and a 9 pts, 13 reb performance against the Hawks. He’s your classic hustle big man.
John expressed the same opinion as Danny Ainge. After all, big guys who can play are hard to find.
But if Shav is back, it’s a sign that Fab Melo still isn’t ready to contribute and that would be disappointing.
In other news, Dennis Rodman is being laughed at for claiming LeBron James would be an average player if he played in the 80s and 80s. Crazy as that statement is, the Worm is spot on with this:
“LeBron came into the age of the game at a perfect time. Michael came into the game when back then you could hit people, knock him down, shoot a free throw and get back up,” Rodman said. “And LeBron can’t do that. All they do today is (complain) about a foul. All they do is (complain).”
Rodman believes his best Bulls team would easily defeat James’ Heat.
“It would be no contest. The Heat has better talent than we had, but we had smarter players,” Rodman said. “That’s the only thing we had, smarter players. … I would take Bosh out of his damn game easy. That’s not even a problem. And how would Dwyane Wadematch up with Scottie Pippen? Really? And Scottie Pippen would guard LeBron easy. And how are you going to cover those two guys (Jordan and Pippen)?”
I love how he dismisses Bosh. Hilarious and accurate.
