Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.
"Ultimately, it was the way [the Grizzlies] embraced me, the way they
reached out to me and let it all out," said Allen. "They let me know I
was needed. In Boston, I was kind of overshadowed by those guys — Paul
Pierce and Ray
Allen. Here's a ball club that's on the rise and a lot of guys can
make names for themselves. It's a coming out party for a lot of guys on
this team.""I don't mind embracing the [defensive] role, but there is more to my
game; let's not get that twisted," said Allen. "Whatever I can do to win
ballgames — if that's just passing out Gatorades or flashing towels or
giving somebody a high-five, I'm willing to do that."
ESPN Boston – Tony Allen sounds off in Memphis
Newsflash to Tony Allen: You will still be overshadowed in Memphis. Instead of sitting behind future HOFers like Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, you will now take a back seat to O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley.
I'm sure Danny Ainge didn't kiss your ass like Chris Wallace, and that made you feel like the Celtics were keeping you on the back burner in case something better came along. But maybe if you played with bit more consistency over the years, the Celtics would have made you a priority.
Enjoy Memphis, your new teammates and the fresh start. Also enjoy the short season. The Grizzlies finished 10 games out of the 8th spot in the West.
