Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
The Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are among many teams determined to make hard runs at trades for Love, league sources said. Boston and Los Angeles plan to make high-lottery picks in the 2014 NBA Draft available in offers for Love, sources said.

Could Danny Ainge and the Celtics make a blockbuster trade for Minnesota’s Kevin Love this summer? According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski’s sources, yes. Woj says that organizations such as Boston, the Lakers and Suns are all going to make plays for the 25 year old power forward/center. Teams looking to deal for Love will also be hoping to get him to sign a 5-year, $100 million extension. Love wants to play for a contender of course, and that could obviously be a stumbling block as far as the Celtics go. But with Rajon Rondo running the point and Danny Ainge’s arsenal of draft picks that he can wheel & deal with, if we could get Love here, other big name free agents could follow. Love had a great career in Minny, and carried them through some lean years, but it’s time for a change for the big fella. The look in Kevin’s eyes during this post game interview after a frustrating late season loss to the Grizzlies said it all for me.
Kevin Love is coming off of a career year in scoring, and we all know he is a dominant rebounder and skilled passer. And at just 25, he hasn’t even hit his ceiling yet by far. But if the ping-pong balls are kind to the Celtics on Tuesday night, and they get let’s say a top 3 pick, do they put all of their eggs in Love’s basket? Or do they go after the Wiggins, Parkers and Embids out there? This is undoubtedly a tough question, and we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves. Unfortunately, the fate of the Celtics rests in the hands of lady luck right now. Tuesday night’s draft lottery will play an integral part in determining just who will be staying in green, who’ll be moving on and who will be coming in to try & help the 17-time world champs raise another banner to the rafters.
