Your Morning Dump… Where the minutes are making Pierce… healthier?

Pierce jumper

Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline.  Because there’s nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

“In my case, (it was) an infection,” he said. “It’s not like it was
ligament damage. It’s putting time in the weight room, getting on the
treadmill to strengthen up the quad. But playing in a game actually has
helped get it stronger. Playing in the last four or five games has
actually helped.

“It’s helped me gain some stamina, because it was weak in the first
few games, and it’s getting stronger and stronger with the more I play.”

Boston Herald: It’s about time for Pierce

I dunno… that sounds a lot like me saying I get more and more sober the more I drink.

But I see Paul’s point.  After time away it gets weak and you need to make it stronger.  I just didn’t think 40+ minutes per game would be the way that happened.  In today’s modern times, I figured some kind of work in the weight room would get the job done.

But what do I know?  Maybe Paul running around knocking knees every other player is better.

“That’s been the Celtics’ month,’’
Rivers said. “[Austin] just needs to fall right in line with Kevin
Garnett and everybody else. It hasn’t been a good four, five weeks in
Celtics land with injuries.’’

Austin Rivers couldn’t muster so much as a smile.Walking
on crutches behind his father as they left the gym, the look on Austin
Rivers’s face wasn’t one of pain, but more like anger.

“He was mad because he got hurt,’’ Doc Rivers said. “But there’s nothing he can do about it. But he’ll be OK.’’David Bailey, who’s coached Winter Park the past four years, sounded hopeful about his star player’s injury.

“I
think it’s just an ankle sprain, hopefully we’ll know after we get
X-rays,’’ Bailey said. “But it’s his first time ever spraining an ankle
so those are usually the worst. It could be more severe than we know.
He didn’t say. Any time when it’s the first time you have something
like that, it’s going to hurt more than anything else.’

That dunk was sick.

Those first ankle sprains are horrible.  Ugh.  Your foot looks like a snake after it swallowed something whole… or like somehow your ankle has been replaced by a softball.

But it’s a rite of passage in basketball.  Welcome to club, son.
