Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Boston Celtics forward Jared Sullinger spent Wednesday in the principal’s office.
Serving a team-issued one-game suspension for his role in a domestic violence altercation in August, Sullinger watched Boston’s season-opener against the Raptors from the office of president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. Sullinger joked that Ainge ranted at times like Celtics legend/color commentator Tommy Heinsohn, but couldn’t complain much about Ainge’s souped-up multiple-TV viewing experience (which included a couple screens dedicated to Game 6 of the World Series).
ESPN Boston: Sullinger anxious for season debut
Sounds like Danny’s got a pretty sweet set up in his office.
Either that, or Danny’s office is in the home theater section of Best Buy. Sounds like it’d be a fun time… and it’s great that he had a “couple of screens” showing the Sox.
Anyway, back to Sullinger.
It was the impact that the suspension was having on his Celtics teammates, who were beaten 93-87 by Toronto in large part because of the Raptors success on the boards – Sullinger’s specialty.
“I was definitely cringing when I realized we weren’t getting a lot of rebounds that we were supposed to get”
There’s no doubt that Sullinger would have helped at least cut into that 15-rebound deficit against Toronto. And if he could have kept them from getting a few of their 19 offensive rebounds, the C’s could have had a better chance to win that game.
Milwaukee will be a much different beast, but still, having Sullinger out there will help a lot.

Page 2: No concussion for Avery Bradley
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVmsTcjHr7k]WALTHAM, Mass. — Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley passed a preliminary concussion test on Thursday, but coach Brad Stevens indicated the team will reevaluate him on Friday to ensure no lingering effects from a hard fall in the team’s season-opener on Wednesday night in Toronto.
Bradley collided with Toronto’s Kyle Lowry while chasing a loose ball midway through the fourth quarter and spilled hard to the floor. Bradley played five more minutes before sitting out the final 30 seconds of the game. Team trainers examined him in the locker room, but he did not express any concerns while meeting with reporters later.
ESPN Boston: Bradley passes preliminary concussion test
I never even though of a possible concussion for Bradley when that play happened. I was more concerned about his shoulder being ok. But in today’s sports landscape, concussions are taken much more seriously than they have in the past. I’m sure they test for concussions after every hard fall nowadays.
So it’s good to hear Bradley’s going to be OK. I’d love for this kid to make it through the season without missing time for once.
