Your Morning Dump… Where we’re crossing names off the list

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

The Bulls are prepared to sign Tracy McGrady
if he proves to be sufficiently healthy in a workout Monday and can
convince the team he is willing to accept a bench role, one source
familiar with Chicago's thinking said Sunday.

"Nothing is done until it's done, but I expect the Bulls to sign McGrady later this week," the source said.

ESPN: Bulls prepared to add McGrady

Within the last week, the Clippers have brought back Craig Smith, brought in seven-time All-Star Tracy McGrady for a physical and workout session and opted to re-sign swingman Rasual Butler, who was a free agent.

The last of the three moves came on Saturday afternoon, and more or
less closes Project Tracy, which had been a remote prospect anyway.
McGrady is scheduled to work out for the Bulls on Monday, and on his
Twitter account listed the Clippers, Bulls, Lakers and Heat as
possibilities.

LA Times: Rasual Butler returning (via  ProBasketballTalk

I don't know how seriously the Celtics pursued either guy, but they're names that have popped up…. and now they're gone.

And before any of you get pipe dreams of bringing Chris Paul in here, The Hornets are doing the smart thing and saying they will not be trading him

So who's left?  Sorry to say… not much.  Check out Yahoo's free agent tracker.  What are the Celtics REALLY able to get with the minimum?

Once again… Sheed's contract still hangs out there for us… and the trade doesn't necessarily have to happen NOW.  Sheed can just not play and sit there… enjoy some free cash from the C's… and maybe there can be some sort of deadline deal.  Maybe by then, the C's can just convince him to come back for 4 months and be done with it.

Yes, we're reaching.  But that's what happens at this time of year.
