he touches all the bases for a point guard,” said the Cooz. “If there is
a negative – and I don’t know how much of a negative it is – he seems
to be insecure about his shooting. But, hell, the guy’s shooting almost
52 percent. How much better could he be if he looked for his shot all
the time? But that’s not the function of a point guard.
“Everything else is there. He rebounds much taller than he is. He’s a
tough, tough defender. And he creates well. He adds a little something,
so he’s obviously getting more confident with the moves and the
imagination that he shows. As far as I’m concerned, he’s their most
valuable player this year.”

You’re not alone, Cooz.
Rondo’s a confident kid. And its easy to see why. When people like Bob Cousy, one of the best ever to play his position, gushes about how awesome Rondo is… it’s hard not to be confident.
But the fact of the matter is Rondo is probably the only point guard the Celtics have ever had that is as creative as Bob Cousy with the ball. There’s a reason why Cooz used the word “imagination” there. Rondo dreams up some crazy shit… and it usually works.
On Page 2.. Doc asks us to withhold judgment on Sheed

“Up and down,” Rivers said. “He’s had some good games, some bad
games. Bottom line is, he’ll be judged, and our team will be judged, on
how well we play in the playoffs. If he has a great playoff run, I don’t
think anyone is going to say it was a disappointing Rasheed Wallace. If
he has a great playoff run, I think people are going to say, ‘That’s
what we brought him here for.’ I think somebody’s going to write that.“If he has a poor one, then obviously, it’s going to go the other
way.

There was a long stretch in last night’s game where Rasheed Wallace was the best player on the floor for the Celtics. But he’s also been bad enough this season where questions like “Is Sheed the worst Celtic ever?” are being asked.
It’s completely understandable to want to react to this season that way. But I would say that judging now is a bad idea.
Think of like watching a two-hour movie. We’re at the 1 hour and 40 minute mark… and the movie has been up and down. A great ending will make you forget about some of the shitty earlier parts of the movie. But one thing you don’t want to do at that point is get up and walk out. The ending is what’s going to make or break your opinion.
So personally, I’m going to withhold final judgment on Sheed. I will admit that he’s frustrating as hell… but he’s still got skills, dammit. And he’s still got time to redeem himself.
