Danny Ainge calls into Toucher and Rich on Boston’s 98.5 FM every Thursday. We recap the conversation here and tell you what you need to know.

On that whole Chandler Jones thing:

Why does anyone smoke pot pourri?

On the Celtics’ recent woes:

This team almost at the halfway mark [of the season] doesn’t need to play harder.  Play smarter? Play more together? Make more shots? Sure. At some point we have to execute better in half court offense.

I love watching our guys we have some really good players and some really good intensity, but we’ve got to start making some shots. Last night we won in spite of three of our shooters not being able to score.

On finding a scorer:

I’ve known from the beginning of the year that would be an issue. It’s worse now than I thought that it would be. But I do love the grit.

On Brad Stevens and Andrew Smith:

He [Stevens] is just as high a quality a person as there is. When Brad first called and told me about Andrew a few months back, and what he was going through, we were putting our heads together and using all our resources to see if there was some sort of medical way that we could help him [Smith]. That’s just who Brad is.

On the Celtics organization trying to help Smith find treatment:

We’ve done it for family of players, and this is sort of the same situation. A close personal friend was in need.
