Yovani Gallardo was examined in Milwaukee on Friday morning and it was discovered that he tore the ACL in his right knee yesterday in the fifth inning. Dave Bush was recalled from Triple A Nashville to take Gallardo’s roster spot.
This is just a devastating injury for the Brewers. Gallardo provided another top of the rotation pitcher to go along with Ben Sheets. Sheets’ health becomes even more important now. I’m just at a loss right now. The offense really needs to step it up now and help out this pitching staff. Long-term this could be a blessing for Gallardo since he will now have a season off from pitching on his arm but this will be the second surgery on his knees in two months.
