MStLouis9Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman put all the rumors to bed in one swift statement to ESPN:

Marty St. Louis is not going to be traded. He remains one of the best players in the league and an extremely important player to our team, both on and off the ice.”

Rumors had been flying that the Bolts would move the 14 year veteran by the April 3 deadline.

“We are a team in transition,” Yzerman said. “We just made a coaching change. Marty is one of the leaders of the team. He is not going anywhere.”

The 37 year old is averaging more than a point per game this season and has two seasons remaining on a four year, $22.5 million contract he signed in 2011. (Photo/Susan Ferlita)
