Zab “Super” Judah (41-7, 28 KO’s,), former undisputed welterweight and junior welterweight champion of the world, will return to Brooklyn, New York, his home town, for maybe his last chance at another world title. On March 24, 2012, Judah will face the undefeated Vernon Paris (26-0, 15 KO’s) in the main event on NBC Sports “Fight Night 36.” If anyone has seen Judah fight before, they know that it is going to be an exciting fight, because the “Super” fast southpaw leaves it all in the ring.
In his career, Judah captured the IBF Welterweight title by defeating Jan Piet Bergman (44-5, 33KO’s) by knockout in the fourth round. He defended his title five times before losing to Kostya Tszyu (31-2, 25KO’s) in his challenge to obtain the WBC and WBA belts. Two years later he captured the WBO Welterweight title and then lost by decision when he challenged Cory Spinks (39-6, 11KO’s) for the WBC, IBF, and WBO Welterweight titles.
One year later, Judah returned the favor against Spinks and he finally captured all three of the Welterweight titles of the word with a knockout in the ninth round. He went on to make one defense of those three belts and continued his career to fight notable fighters such as Carlos Baldomir, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, and most recently, Amir Khan.
At the age of 34, Judah will be going against the 24 year old Paris at the Aviator in New York City. Paris is ranked No. 1 by the IBF and is hoping to defeat Judah, the former world champion for a chance at his first world title. The winner of this fight will be ranked number one in the IBF and could get a shot at a world title. Also featured on the card is former WBO heavyweight titlist, Sergui Liakahovich and Tomasz Adamek.
In addition to the Judah fight, three days prior to the fight, at 10:30 p.m. ET on March 21, Judah (41-8, 28 KO’s,) will be featured on NBC Sports “Fight Night 36.” The show will follow Judah around for 36 hours as he prepares for his fight against the undefeated Paris.
