Zombies!!

Zombies!!

Hello Cougar Nation!  A tremendous Friday to all of you!

With the Cougar news a bit sparse today, we thought it timely to end the week with one of our acclaimed stupid posts.

Zombies!!

Nation, last night’s EPIC victory by the Miami Heat was one of the most dominant, overpowering basketball performances we have witnessed in a long, long time.  Not only did the Heat tie an NBA record for most 3’s in an NBA Finals contest, but my man Mike Miller was an unbelievable 7-8 from three point land in the close-out win.

Zombies!!

And truly, you don’t need to look much beyond the 44 points the Heat got last night from Miller, Chalmers, and Battier combined (not to mention Chalmers’ 25 point outburst in Game 4) to know why the Heat broke the hearts of Clay Bennett Nation.  I mean, one of the things that we often see not only from championship teams, but DYNASTIES in the making…

Zombies!!

..is that while the Superstars are certainly magical…

Zombies!!

The role players often emerge as mini-stars in their own right.  What’s more, as Magic Johnson noted last night on the ESPN post game, LeBron figures to get even better as a result of shedding the “Best Player to Have Never Won a Championship” label–which brings me to the gist of today’s Stupid Post.

Nation, last week, my good friend and bookie, Schmegas…

Zombies!!

..set the over under on NBA Championships for Kevin Durant et al. at three.  And if you recall, I encouraged you all to accept the over as all-but inevitable.

So, after watching the events unfold last night, would you now take under on Durant’s future number of championships?  Or, do you see him and LeBron going back and forth in winning championships a la Magic and Bird in the last (and maybe only) true era of Twin Dynasties?

 Zombies!!

Let us know what you think.

Finally, a few links as we head into the weekend. The first is a pretty darn good read by my almost BFF’s over at Cougcenter on the Cougs’ current APR situation.  As detailed by Jeff Nusser, both football and basketball appear to be teetering on the brink of problems, with basketball and Ken Bone’s history at Portland State posing the most serious area for concern.

And to really wrap things up, I offer you a link to a pretty great story on Charles Barkley.  Not only do I love Chuck as a former player and broadaster, but this piece was particularly interesting to me given the Dream Team documentary which was shown recently on NBA TV.

 Zombies!!

So, I completely devoured this piece.

Okay, that’s all we have for today.  Sean will be back as usual on Monday.  And we’ll be back before then if events warrant.

All for now.  Go Cougs!
