WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA — After their last preseason game this past Thursday, the Golden State Warriors practiced Saturday, which also served as the Warriors’ employees’ “Family Day”.

Participants were invited to watch practice, including a scrimmage between the first and second stringers. Media were not allowed inside the gym, but the front door was open and we observed half of the court on the bench unit’s basket (we were not allowed to take pictures or video) and saw the following:

  • Harrison Barnes cut down the lane and slammed an and-one on a trailing James McAdoo. Yes, there were referees and free throws.
  • Stephen Curry drew a three-point shooting foul on Shaun Livingston, who threw towel against the wall in disgust (seemingly at himself for the foul).
  • Andrew Bogut, wearing a mask due to his broken nose suffered in the Houston Rockets preseason game, gave a hard grab of Festus Ezeli, who got the ball on an inside feed from Leandro Barbosa. Bogut made sure to hold Ezeli in absorbing the contact and checked to see if Ezeli was okay, an act we would probably never see against an opponent in the regular season.
  • Ezeli made two field goals in a row. After the first bucket, Bogut, who was guarding Ezeli, looked up at the ceiling in exasperation. After the second basket one of Ezeli’s opponents, Klay Thompson, shook his head and smiled as he ran towards the offensive end.
  • The bench unit apparently won the scrimmage, as the first-string blue-jerseyed starters had to foul intentionally towards the end.
  • Someone hit a trick shot after the scrimmage and head coach Steve Kerr, who is still suffering from headaches as a result of complications with his two recent back surgeries, could be seen smiling and clapping.

A Family Day participant managed to capture rare footage of the scrimmage, which shows the masked Bogut dunking:
